American LaFrance Mini Pumper

My 1984 pickup-based mini pumper, built from original photos with an ALF body, and the report in Modell Magazin.

After a few "big" American LaFrance models, I dared to try something smaller. I built the model shown on the cover of MM from a Monogram pickup. If you are interested in building a model like this, you can read about it on five pages that appeared in Modell Magazin in May 1984.

The vehicle is a mini pumper, as still found today in the equipment of many fire departments in the USA. I built this little one from original photos; it consisted of a GMC chassis fitted with an ALF body.

Here is another example of a mini pumper, from 1979. This GMC was in service with the Clay VFD and had a body by Emergency One of Ocala, Florida. I had visited this manufacturer when I was in Tampa at Stepps Towing Service to photograph their Peterbilt wrecker. For the model on the left, I used parts from the American LaFrance pumper.
