Scale models by Klaus Lassen

Books

My books on American tow trucks, heavy tow trucks in Germany and the Metz crane trucks.

This book was written while I was working at and for Revell from 1992 to 1999. Developing the Peterbilt Wrecker kit of Stepps Towing Service in Tampa, Florida sparked my interest in heavy tow trucks in America. I have been over in the USA several times and visited tow operators as well as the so-called tow shows. I was in Orlando twice, where the show of the Professional Wrecker Operators of Florida (PWOF) takes place every April. There you always see the latest from the companies that build such vehicles, for example Miller-Industries, Jerr-Dan, NRC and Vulcan, to name just a few.

Since I own the print films for this book, I am looking for a publisher who is interested in reprinting this work after more than 20 years.

After my first book about tow trucks in America, I thought that what exists over there in the States ought to be possible here too. So I started thinking and researched for quite some time, and I was surprised by what I found on the subject of heavy tow trucks in Germany. Over a period of five years I collected a great deal of pictures and data and worked it into a 295-page book. This work, weighing almost 2 kg, is still available from Podszun-Verlag.

In autumn 2024 my book on all the crane and recovery crane trucks built by Metz was published. Over 180 pages, it presents in detail all 44 vehicles that Metz built between 1936 and 1972.
