BMW 507

The BMW 507 by Count Goertz: my hand-built exhibit for the toy fair and a visit to its designer in Brunkensen.

The BMW 507 was designed in 1957 by Albrecht Graf Goertz and built by BMW. Revell released two versions of this gem, a finished model in 1:18 scale and a kit in 1:24 scale. Since the buyers at the toy fair didn’t want to see boxes with a photo on them but a finished model, I built a display piece of the BMW 507.

When Revell had finished the 1:18 model of the BMW 507, I drove to Brunkensen once more in 1992 and visited Graf Goertz on his estate.

I had brought along a few models as a thank-you for his kind support and for his permission to develop and market the models as a 1:24 kit and a 1:18 diecast model.

He signed a model for me, which I treasure.
