Hübner

In 2002 I developed the Ackermann B900 container wagon and matching Magirus tractor units for Hübner Modelleisenbahn.

As part of my self-employment under my label – Lassen project – I had the pleasure in 2002 of developing a very special model for Hübner Modelleisenbahn in Tuttlingen: a house-to-house container wagon from Ackermann, the so-called B900. The matching Magirus tractor units, in square-bonnet and round-bonnet versions, belonged to it as well.

Hübner had the Ackermann B900 and the Magirus tractor units realised to perfection.

Hübner offered not only different container types; the Magirus tractor unit was also available as a round-bonnet version.

With the help of pictures I was able to obtain, I could draw a small part of the Ackermann B900. The fortunate circumstance that I had found another B900 in an industrial museum in the Rhineland meant that I could develop the whole Ackermann on the drawing board. I had measured the original completely and taken plenty of photos. From the partial views, the toolmakers in China could see how the B900 is put together. The drawing also helped me build a working model for the Chinese.

At least in 2002, this Ackermann B900 was still at the LVR Industrial Museum in Euskirchen.

Hübner also commissioned me to develop the matching Magirus semi-trailer tractor units for the B900, in round-bonnet and square-bonnet versions. Later he had these built as flatbed trucks as well.

Here are some pictures of the working model that I built in 1:24 scale.
